SCAM ALERT: Rhode Island Department of State Alerts All Voters to Suspicious Text
RHODE ISLAND, September 17 - PROVIDENCE, RI – The Rhode Island Department of State today issued the following alert:
The Rhode Island Department of State Elections Division has been alerted to a text purporting to be for voter registration purposes, asking recipients to confirm their identity for their voter record.
This text is not affiliated with and was not authorized by the RI Department of State. Recipients are encouraged to be cautious when receiving texts from unknown numbers.
The Office of the Attorney General has resources for identifying scams at https://riag.ri.gov/scams.
Voters who have questions about their voter record or the voter registration process are encouraged to contact the Elections Division directly at 401-222-2340 or elections@sos.ri.gov, or to visit vote.ri.gov.

La División de Elecciones del Departamento de Estado de Rhode Island ha sido alertada sobre un mensaje de texto que, supuestamente, tiene como fines de registro de votantes, en el cual se solicita a los destinatarios que confirmen su identidad para su registro de votante.
Este mensaje de texto no está afiliado con el Departamento de Estado de Rhode Island ni ha sido autorizado por el Departamento de Estado de Rhode Island. Se recomienda a los destinatarios que sean cautelosos al recibir mensajes de números desconocidos.
La Oficina del Fiscal General dispone de recursos para identificar estafas en https://riag.ri.gov/scams.
Se recomienda a los votantes que tengan preguntas sobre su registro de votante o sobre el proceso de inscripción para votar que se comuniquen directamente con la División de Elecciones llamando al 401-222-2340 o correo electrónico a elections@sos.ri.gov, o que visiten vota.ri.gov.
